York Place trams meeting

RESIDENTS affected by diversions after York Place was closed for tram works are set to gather at a special public meeting on Monday night.

Officials from the city council will attend to show a
computer traffic model of alternative routes suggested by the New Town and Broughton Community Council.

The News has told how the current route has upset residents after cars, taxis and HGVs were rerouted via Broughton Street, Albany Street and Abercromby Place. The diversion is due to remain in place until the end of next year.

Work on York Place will include raising the road level by up to two-and-a-half feet to give the tram “a smooth
trajectory” as it takes the
corner.

St Andrew Square bus station will close from September until the end of next year for work to begin on-street.

Monday’s meeting will begin at 7.30pm at Broughton St Mary’s Church in Bellevue Crescent.
