Yoko Ono backs festival in Highlands
JOHN Lennon's widow yesterday paid tribute to Scotland, describing it as "the most beautiful and magical country".
Yoko Ono Lennon's comments came as she lent her support to the John Lennon Northern Lights Festival.
The event will be held in September in Durness - where she spent a memorable holiday with the former Beatle 40 years ago.
Ms Ono Lennon said: "I would love to lend my co-operation to this splendid venture to bring the world's attention to Scotland, the most beautiful and magical country."
A spokesman for the festival said: "We are very grateful that she has given us her support - not just as John's wife - but as a truly great artist in her own right."
