THE woman whose body was found on an Aberdeenshire beach last Thursday has been named as Jane Thomson, 55, from Kirriemuir.

Ms Thomson had been reported missing from her Kirriemuir home last Wednesday by Tayside Police. Her body was discovered a day later on the beach at Johnshaven, between Stonehaven and Montrose. Her Land Rover Discovery was found parked at Johnshaven harbour.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said today: “Police can confirm the identity of the woman found dead on the shore at Johnshaven on Thursday, 28 February, as (Jane) Janie Thomson, 55, from Kirriemuir.

There were no suspicious circumstances.”

He added: “Janie’s family have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
