Woman jailed after electricity rampage

A WOMAN who got herself arrested on purpose because her house had no electricity has been jailed.

Jeanette Cairey, from Haddington, East Lothian, had been released from prison just hours before she demanded to be sent back after finding her home had no heating or lighting.

Police were called to the ongoing disorder outside Cairey’s home, where she made threats to officers.

The 43-year-old, who appeared from custody, pleaded guilty to conducting herself in a disorderly manner, repeatedly shouting and swearing, threatening to punch a police officer and threatening to damage cars on October 9 during an earlier appearance at Haddington Sheriff Court.

She was yesterday sentenced to 200 days in prison.
