Woman fined for battering man in street

A WOMAN who rained blows on a man’s head during a street argument has been ordered to pay him £50 compensation.

Samantha Lockhart repeatedly struck and injured Christopher Dyer in the incident in Blackburn, West Lothian, on July 15.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Lockhart, 40, had since sought help for alcohol problems and was now applying for jobs and volunteering to work in charity shops.

Lockhart, from Blackburn, appeared for sentence yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to an assault charge. Elizabeth McGuinness, defending, said the accused had two recent convictions related to her alcohol abuse and had sought help from West Lothian Drug and Alcohol Service.

Sheriff Martin Edington ordered Lockhart to pay the compensation from her benefits at £10 a fortnight.
