Woman cut free from car wreckage
A YOUNG woman had to be cut free by fire crews after a car crashed near Balerno.
Four other people travelling in the vehicle were pulled out of the wreckage by another road-user before the emergency services arrived as petrol poured into the car.
The only vehicle involved, a Peugeot 207, ended up on its roof in the accident, which happened on the A70 two miles west of Balerno at around 8.15pm yesterday.
The 20-year-old woman who had to be cut free was treated by ambulance crews at the scene and then taken to hospital with injuries said not to be life-threatening. She was described as being in a stable condition.
The others involved in the accident were also taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.
The accident happened close to Boll O’Bere farm house on Lanark Road West.
The road was closed to other traffic as police dealt with the aftermath of the accident and re-opened just before midnight.
