Woman accused of knife attack murder appears in court
A WOMAN accused of murdering another woman in Kirkclady is to stand trial.
Shazia Johnston, 24, is alleged to have killed 30-year-old Lisa Quigley by repeatedly striking her on the body with a knife, or something similar, on 11 October last year.
The alleged assault is said to have taken place at an address in Valley Gardens, Kirkcaldy.
Johnston is further accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
She pled not guilty to the charges today and has lodged a special defence of self-defence.
She appeared for a brief preliminary hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh today, where it was decided that the trial should be held in May.
Judge Lord Bannatyne heard that the trial, to be held at the High Court in Glasgow, could last 10 days.
