Woman, 82, hurt in robbery at Maybole home

AN 82-YEAR-OLD woman has been robbed and assaulted in her home.

A man entered the woman’s house in Cassilis Road, Maybole, Ayrshire on Thursday evening. He demanded money, pushed her and then made off with a small amount of money.

The woman suffered a slight hand injury during the ordeal and was left upset but did not need medical treatment. The robber is white, around 5ft 10in, thin and aged 22-25. He was wearing a dark, hooded jacket with the hood up and a grey scarf across his face.

Strathclyde Police officers are checking CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area. Detective Inspector Alan Somerville said: “This man may have been hanging around the area. Perhaps someone noticed him and thought he was acting a little oddly.”
