TWO tapestries inspired by the only surviving letters with direct connections to William Wallace have been cut from their looms by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop.

The bespoke tapestries will be a backdrop to an exhibition of the letters in the Scottish Parliament.

Ms Hyslop was at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh’s Infirmary Street to meet the skilled weavers who have crafted the tapestries to a design inspired by the intricate lettering and historic parchment of the 700-year-old documents.
