Whales use ancient skills

KILLER whales have adapted to use the same hunting and feeding techniques as ancient crocodiles from 150 million years ago, city researchers have found.

The two crocodylians, Dakosaurus maximus and Plesiosuchus manselii, ate the same prey as modern-day killer whales, according to a team from Edinburgh University and London’s Natural History Museum.

The team discovered that the shape and size of fossil teeth and skulls matched those of killer whales today.
