Water way to beat winter

SCOTTISH Water is encouraging customers across Edinburgh to ensure homes and businesses are protected and prepared for a freezing winter.

Homeowners are bring urged to follow a range of measures including heating, insulating and protecting pipes as well as leaving heating on at a low setting and asking a neighbour to regularly check for burst pipes.

If a property is going to be vacant over the winter months, turn off your water supply and drain the system.

Bill Elliot, regional manager for Edinburgh said, “While there’s no telling whether the extreme conditions of the last few years could be repeated again, it is sensible for customers to start thinking about protecting their pipes and make sure they are prepared.”
