Wanted: 1,000 ‘silver sidekicks’ to help older people access online services

A TEAM of 1,000 computer-literate pensioners should be paid £21,000 a year to ensure other older people can access online public services, think-tank Policy Exchange said.

It said the taxpayer could save £120 million in transaction costs if the “silver sidekicks” visited 4.5 million people over five years and persuaded at least one in ten to use the internet.
