Unique whisky bottle to raise money for hospice

A RARE single malt whiskey contained in a unique hand-crafted bottle is going under the hammer to raise funds for St Columba’s Hospice.

The one-of-a-kind bottle has been designed by Maeve Gillies, a world-renowned artist and designer who grew up in Edinburgh. It is made from hand-blown glass with genuine sterling silver, using traditional silversmithing techniques.

It will contain 700ml of a rare 1974 single malt created by Dr Bill Lumsden, director of distilling and whisky creation at The Glenmorangie Company.

The item is set to be auctioned at the hospice’s Live Life Ball, which will be held at the Assembly Rooms in October.

Sealed bids will be accepted in advance. Anyone wishing to bid can contact Lesley Christie on 0131-551 1381.
