Unexploded mortar found

BOMb disposal experts have been called in after an unexploded mortar shell was discovered in a stream.

Police were called yesterday morning after the item was found by a member of the public on Balgreen Road.

They called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team who examined the mortar, which was discovered at around 11.20am.

The area, including parts of Saughton Park, was sealed off during the investigation.

Experts concluded that the mortar was inactive, and said it would be disposed of by the army.
