Uncle’s threat to take Hibs star to court

THE disabled uncle of Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths has threatened to take his nephew to court over an unpaid £500 loan.

Norman Griffiths, 63, who suffers from arthritis and walks using a crutch, said he had been treated “diabolically” by the footballer and that he might have to take legal action to recover the money. He said his nephew had threatened not to pay back anything.

Mr Griffiths said the money was loaned in April after his daughter, Vivien, told him
his nephew was in financial
difficulty.

He said: “She said she thought Leigh was in a ‘bit of bother’ as he had asked her to lend him £300. I’m thinking maybe the lad has got a bill to pay before he gets his wages.”

Mr Griffiths said he eventually loaned £500 but has not seen a penny of it.

Leigh Griffiths was today quoted claiming he had paid back the money “months ago”.
