Two women injured in separate fires

TWO women have been taken to hospital following separate fires in Scotland last night.
Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue were called to the scene of a blaze in Woodthorpe sheltered housing centre in Redford Road, Edinburgh around 8.30pm yesterday.
A 64-year-old women was rescued by firefighters and given treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation and burns before she was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The service said the fire had started in a bedroom in the accommodation and two cats were also rescued and handed over to the care of the SSPCA.
Another woman also had to be treated in hospital for smoke inhalation following a fire in a flat in Sommerfield Terrace, Aberdeen around midnight.
Three appliances from Grampian Fire and Rescue were involved in the incident and firefighters with breathing apparatus entered the building and removed the woman before she was taken to hospital.
The causes of both fires are being investigated by the respective forces this morning.
