Two-minute silence held for Inverness teenager found dead
A two-minute silence has been held in memory of Scott Campbell, the teenager found dead in Inverness.
School pupils held the silence at Scott’s former school after he was found in the Culduthel area of the city yesterday.
He had last been seen near a Tesco supermarket at around 5.15am.
Northern Constabulary are treating his death as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
Today, a two-minute silence was held at Inverness Royal Academy, where Scott was a pupil until last summer when he left to train as a mechanic.
The school also held a special assembly for his year group.
Rector Alastair McKinlay said: “Scott was a very likeable lad, very personable. He was full of energy and had a great sense of humour.
“He was very popular with both staff and pupils. The whole community is shocked by this very, very sad news.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this time, particularly his sister Sarah, who is in first year.”
Hundreds of people have left condolence messages on Northern Constabulary’s Facebook page.
A memorial service will be held this evening at the Culduthel Christian Centre, Culduthel Avenue, in Inverness.
Police have urged people to attend the service rather than visit the scene.
A statement from Northern Constabulary said: “Police understand that people may wish to pay their respects or leave floral tributes, but they would wish to discourage friends and other members of the public from visiting the locus of his death due to the potential disturbance which that may cause to neighbouring houses.
“They are encouraged instead to attend the memorial service this evening to pay their respects, where they will be welcome by Scott’s family.”
