Two held over web threats to Celtic

TWO men have been detained for allegedly posting online threats towards senior staff at Celtic Football Club.

The arrests were made following dawn raids on properties by Strathclyde Police and local officers in Aberdeen and Stamford, Lincolnshire.

A 21-year-old man was detained in Aberdeen and and 18-year-old in Stamford, both by officers from the hate crime unit.

Both are accused of posting “threatening and offensive comments on a social networking website.”

The 21-year-old is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Mawson, Divisional Commander, London Road Police Office said: “For some reason people still think they are anonymous online and cannot be traced, however, this conduct will not be accepted.”
