Two men fined £750 for Dunkeld deer killings
TWO men have been fined £750 after two fallow deer were killed out of season.
John Roberts, 67, pled guilty to killing the deer at Laighwood Estate Dunkeld, between 3 April 2012 and 5 April, 2012.
And Cyril Boulton, 75, admitted being in possession of the deer, which he knew had been killed out of season, and also to committing a breach of the peace with a rifle.
Boulton had pointed a rifle at foresters on a public access path. Police were called and found the partially butchered and gutted deer in his vehicle.
Craig Harris, procurator fiscal, wildlife and environmental crime, said: “The law protects female deer populations by setting a period of time during which they cannot be wilfully killed. Those who flout that law will be brought to account for their criminal activity.”
