Two in court over armed raids on shop

TWO men have appeared in court in connection with two armed robberies at a newsagents in West Lothian.

Paul Gibson and Alan Browning appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court.

They were arrested by police after masked raiders threatened staff at RS McColls in West Main Street, Armadale, before escaping with cash.

Gibson, 35, from East Calder, and Browning, 42, from Armadale, made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing before Sheriff Derek O’Carroll.

Gibson was charged with two counts of assault and robbery, two of carrying an offensive weapon and one of 
abduction.

Browning faces two charges of assault and robbery and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both were fully committed and remanded in custody pending trial.
