Tweet success for inventors of Twibbon

A DIGITAL initiative that allows social network users to promote campaigns and causes online has scooped a hat-trick of awards.

The "Twibbon" – an online version of the ribbons used to promote causes such as Breast Cancer Awareness and World Aids Day – has in the past fortnight been named best online application, best not-for-profit campaign and best innovation in social media.

The application, developed by Circus Lane-based design house Storm Ideas has won a Golden-Twit award; a Digital Business Award for its viral campaign to urge 90,000 internet users to wear pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October; and last week beat the likes of Channel 4 and Virgin Atlantic to win an eConsultancy Innovation Award.

A spokesman said: "We were announced as winners and humbled by the eConsultancy judges' praise for our application, 'Genius. Like all the best ideas, a Twibbon is a very simple but a fantastic way of allowing people to engage with campaigns and causes in a way which speaks volumes but requires minimal effort.'"
