Turnover falls at Herald newspapers
NEWSQUEST (Herald & Times), owner of The Herald, Sunday Herald and Glasgow Evening Times newspapers, has announced a fall in profits and a £1.5 million decline in turnover.
US media giant Gannett, which owns the titles, unveiled pre-tax profits of 23.8m, down from 24.1m for its Scottish arm. Turnover declined to 86.8m to December 30 2007, compared to 88.3m to the end of December the year before.
The three Scottish titles accounted for 26.7 per cent of Gannett's UK profits last year.
