Turning circle plan to boost bus services

COUNCIL chiefs are to consider installing a turning circle outside the old Eastern General Hospital in a bid to aid bus services in Leith.

The Lothian Buses number 12 service is being curtailed between King's Road and Pirniefield but the bus firm has said the installation of a turning circle would improve the viability of the service.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh East MP Gavin Strang has led opposition to the loss of the King's Road and Pirniefield section of the number 12 service.

He said: "I am shocked that the (council rescue] package approved does not include the number 12 service."

City chiefs agreed to look again at ways of subsidising this section of the route , or work with Lothian Buses to see if any other services can be diverted.
