Trump hits out at councillor over 'bitter and negative' golf resort campaign
DONALD Trump, left, has launched a tirade against one of the most vocal critics of his controversial golf resort development in Scotland.
The billionaire businessman has accused Councillor Debra Storr of trying to "harass and discredit" his plans for the Menie Estate by lodging a formal police complaint against his staff.
Ms Storr, one of several Liberal Democrats to quit the ruling administration on Aberdeenshire Council in protest at the way the development was handled, claims she was harassed for taking photographs of locked access gates on the estate. But Mr Trump, who has been accused of flouting right-to-roam laws, insisted: "We have never barred the public from our site."
In a letter to Ms Storr, he said: "It has become clear to everyone your bitter and negative campaign against this project is purely motivated by self-interest and your irrational need to promote an extremely unpopular personal agenda."
Ms Storr said: "The fact that Mr Trump has resorted to personal abuse seems little more than an attempt to deflect attention away from the real issue of legal public rights of access."
