Truck driver killed after reversing into Angus quarry

A TRUCK driver has been killed after his lorry plunged into a quarry in Angus.
The 76-year-old driver, who has still to be named, was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident at the David Geddes Quarry near Friockheim.
A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “A 25-tonne articulated dumper truck being driven by a 76-year-old man reversed backwards and toppled down into the quarry. Despite the best efforts of paramedics who attended, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“As with all industrial accidents The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
