Tram works set to make a night of it

DRIVERS have been warned that changes are being made to traffic arrangements around tram works in the city centre.

Overnight works are taking place over the next ten days to upgrade an existing manhole at the top of Broughton Street to accommodate a new drainage connection. Temporary traffic signals and a temporary bridge structure will be constructed over the excavation area.

Contractors will be working on Saturdays from 6am until 10pm and on Sundays from 10am until 8pm, while on week nights work will take place between 8pm and 6am.

Meanwhile, two lanes will be open for buses on York Place for access to the bus station over the festive period.

Transport convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds, said: “The tram work is progressing well and this means that we can adopt a more flexible approach over the festive season.”
