Trainspotting TV show plan

TRAINSPOTTING author Irvine Welsh is in talks with TV bosses to turn his classic novel into a TV series.

The Leith born writer hopes the book will be made into a ten-part series featuring characters from then original film.

But he will have to find a new cast for the small screen as Robert Carlyle, who played Begbie and Ewan McGregor (Renton) are too old.

He is also in discussions to have a film produced based on his latest novel Skagboys, which is a prequel to Trainspotting.

It chronicles the descent of Renton into heroin.
