Time running out on parking permit survey

A PUBLIC consultation over a parking permit scheme planned for residents in Dalkeith has entered its final month.

If the scheme goes ahead, drivers would have to pay between £100 and £300 for an annual parking space on affected streets.

Around a third of residents contacted have filled in the survey, which ends on Sunday, March 31.

The fee would cover the cost of administration, employing an extra traffic warden and issuing penalties in the
Midlothian town.

Midlothian Council roads spokesman Bob Constable said: “The more people who tell us what they think, the clearer understanding we have of if there is or is not an appetite to introduce a parking permit scheme in Dalkeith.”
