Three arrested following spate of Edinburgh assaults and robberies

THREE people have been arrested and charged in connection with a number of assaults and robberies on the elderly in the capital.

The trio have been charged following a series of incidents involving elderly people in Edinburgh this week.

They include the alleged robbery of an 81-year-old man in Dalry Road and a 63-year-old man in Fountainbridge last Saturday.

They have also been charged with the attempted robbery of an 86-year-old woman in Harrison Road yesterday.

A woman aged 50 and two men, aged 30 and 22, are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses to come forwarded.
