Thieves grab jewellery in house raid

HIGH-value jewellery including a wedding band and an engagement ring have been stolen in a raid on a house in Midlothian.

Police are appealing for information following the break-in on a house in Rosebery Crescent, Gorebridge, overnight from Sunday to Monday last week.

Among the items stolen were an “Uno” Swiss-made pocket watch and a South African “Krugerrand” gold coin with an estimated value of £2000.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “All of the stolen items are of great sentimental value to the owner, and we are appealing to anyone who can assist in our investigation.

“Likewise, we would appeal to anyone who may have been offered the stolen items for sale to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should contact police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
