The crack hits back with rockfall as Pennan warned of further landslips

THE residents of the Local Hero village of Pennan have been warned of the risk of further landslips in the area after a coastal footpath above the hamlet was blocked by tonnes of rock, rubble and mud.

Four holiday homes in the harbour area of the Aberdeenshire coastal village lie beneath the latest landslip which affected a cliff face towering over the Eastern end of Pennan.

The landslip came to halt on the coastal footpath above the harbour which links Pennan to the nearby hamlet of New Aberdour and none of the homes directly below was affected.

The fall of mud, rubble and rock is the latest in a series of landslips in recent years to hit Pennan, which was made famous by the Hollywood film.
