Teen rushed to hospital after car accident

A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after being knocked down in a road accident on the outskirts of Dalkeith.

The 16-year-old was hit by 
a vehicle at traffic lights on Millerhill Road at around 4:10pm yesterday.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance suffering from ankle and hip injuries, but these were not thought to be life-threatening.

Millerhill Road remained closed in both directions for over two hours between The Wisp & Old Craighall Road as a result of the accident.

In a separate incident, a child was taken to the Sick Kids Hospital after a Peugeot 206 overturned near a roundabout on the A198 Tranent to Meadowmill road at around 2:40pm yesterday.

The child’s injuries were not thought to be serious.
