Tayside Police keep Facebook page

PLANS to axe the Facebook page operated by Tayside Police have been scrapped following a public outcry.

Tayside Police announced two months ago that the force’s Facebook page, which has more than 32,000 followers, would have to be closed following the creation of a single Scottish police force, to be superseded by the Police Scotland’s Facebook page.

However, now the force has announced in a new posting: “Tayside Police is thrilled to inform our followers that the local Tayside Facebook page will be staying.

“Police Scotland had made a decision to merge the existing police Facebook pages into one corporate page but, thanks to feedback from our followers, the Tayside page will now be
staying.”

It added: “The page will simply be re-branded as Police Scotland – Tayside Division from 1 April.”
