Tam Paton gives a little love to cats and dogs

FORMER Bay City Rollers manager Tam Paton had told staff at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat that he would leave them some money in his will.

It was revealed at Paton's funeral on Friday that he had left his entire fortune to good causes, and there has been much speculation that animal charities would benefit from the legacy of the man who referred to his two Rottweilers and two Staffordshire bull terriers as his "children".

David Ewing, manager of the charity in Seafield Road East, said: "He's certainly indicated over the years that we were going to be mentioned in his will.

"Tam used to come down two or three times a year, sometimes with a cash donation. He was just someone who seemed to be quite interested in animal welfare in general."

Following allegations that Paton had raped two of the band members and ongoing disputes about royalties, the only member of the Bay City Rollers to attend Paton's funeral at Mortonhall Crematorium was the original singer, Nobby Clark.

He said: "He always said that he would leave all his money to charity but I never believed him."
