Swinney’s welcome to 500 IT jobs
A NEW software development company which will create 500 jobs in the Capital has been opened by Finance Secretary John Swinney.
Swiss company Avaloq Innovation chose Edinburgh as the site for its new development centre because of the large number of highly qualified IT specialists. Avaloq creates integrated and comprehensive software for banks and has 1200 employees worldwide.
The company plans to recruit 75 new trainee graduates in its first year in Scotland for an intensive six-month training programme.
The first 20 graduates started work at the beginning of this month.
Mr Swinney said: “I am delighted to open Avaloq’s new software development centre in Edinburgh, and to meet some of the new graduate trainees who have already been recruited.”
