Swinney piles praise on postal workers

POSTAL staff have been given a helping hand during the busiest week of their year
by Finance Secretary John
Swinney.

He toured the Edinburgh Mail Centre, in Cultins Road, and met staff dealing with a bumper festive mailbag full of cards and presents.

Mr Swinney said: “Staff and seasonal workers are working tirelessly to manage the high levels of post and to ensure that their customers across the country have a fantastic festive season.

“This is a welcome opportunity for me to record my thanks to Royal Mail staff for enabling people to exchange greetings.” Centre manager James Jack said: “All our people across the whole of Scotland are working as hard as possible to deliver an absolutely first-class Christmas for our customers.”

Tomorrow is the last postal date for first-class items to arrive before Christmas.
