Success in fight against drugs
PROSECUTORS in the Lothians secured convictions against four out of five defendants accused of drug dealing, new figures reveal.
Between last April and March, charges were proven against 81 per cent of the 250 people appearing before the courts for allegedly supplying, or being in possession with the intent to supply, drugs.
The rate was the same as for 2006-7, but slightly lower than the 87 per cent rate in 2005-6.
The figures were given in a parliamentary answer by Fergus Ewing.
