Subo recalls war relatives

Singing superstar Susan Boyle has spoken of heroic relatives who served in the world wars.

The Blackburn crooner told how her father Patrick served as a sergeant major during the Second World War, and revealed her grandfather died in the First World War as she launched Scotland’s Poppy Appeal. Susan said: “My father served in World War Two so this is a cause which means a lot to me. My grandad was also killed at war.”

The singer was joined at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall for the launch by around 80 members of two Scottish military wives choirs whose partners are currently serving in the armed forces. She said: “The money raised means that Poppyscotland can provide support to thousands of veterans and their families.”
