Students want city-wide energy action

EDINBURGH students are demanding action be taken on energy efficiency after speaking out at a Student City Forum.

The forum was set up by the Edinburgh University Students' Association to discuss relevant community issues and brings together student representatives from the city's universities, councillors, MSPs and community groups.

With fuel prices fluctuating wildly and winter approaching, students have called for action.

Speaking after the event, Adam Ramsay, the president of the Edinburgh University Students' Association, said: "Students are not the only group to suffer from fuel poverty in drafty Edinburgh flats.

"Last month, the council voted in favour of investigating giving free insulation to everyone in the city.

Mr Ramsay added: "I hope they take this initiative seriously, and deliver for people across the city living in fuel poverty."
