Students slay dragons to win £1000 in housing den

Pupils from Holy Rood High School have successfully pitched ideas to a Capital-based housing association during a Dragons’ Den-style competition.

Faced with a line-up of “dragons”, including the managing director and other senior staff members from Castle Rock Edinvar, two teams of youngsters went head-to-head to present their proposals in front of a large audience of teachers and fellow pupils.

First up were The Better Team – higher photography students Emma Sokoluk, 17, Erin McGlinchey, 15, and
Louise Pearce, 17 – who impressed with an idea to produce a Castle Rock Edinvar photo album documenting the year’s activity in pictures.

But they were pipped at the post by the eight-strong ABC Productions team, whose mixed media approach, using drama and film, won over the dragons and the audience to land £1000 prize money for their school.
