Student's film shoots toward top honours
A FILM shot in Edinburgh by a former Napier University student is one of only two British films set to compete at the prestigious Venice Film Festival.
Catriona MacInnes' first film, I'm In Away From Here, was filmed in Leith and Portobello, and features both professional and amateur actors.
Catriona wrote, produced and directed the 22-minute film as part of the Masters of Fine Art degree in Advanced Film Practice, run by the Screen Academy Scotland at Napier.
Screen Academy Scotland director, Robin MacPherson, said: "To have a film in competition in Venice is a great achievement for any filmmaker but to do it with your very first short film is just fantastic.
"We are very proud of Catriona and her team."
The film will compete for awards from an international jury at the festival, which opens on August 27.
