Student grabs robot award
AN EDINBURGH University student has won a national software award after a project that saw him make robots imitate humans.
Artificial intelligence and software engineering graduate Michael Bartosik has been named young software engineer of the year at the Scotland IS awards.
He won the prize in recognition of a project that allowed humanoid robots to learn new skills by imitating human behaviour, which is obtained from an on-body wireless motion capture system.
Papers explaining his work have been accepted for presentation at two international conferences.
Mr Bartosik, from Poland, collected a trophy and a cheque for 1,250 at last night's ScotSoft awards.
