Student flats work begins

Construction is set to begin on the redevelopment of Deaconess House on the  Pleasance.

The work will see more than 300 new student apartments on the site of the former  hospital.

Graham Construction has been awarded the contract, which is expected to be completed in summer 2014.

Contracts manager Paul McBurney said: “While Deaconess House isn’t listed, we are treating it as a listed building and will be taking every care to ensure this property is returned to its former glory.”
