Spott Estate broken up

The Spott Estate in East Lothian is to be broken up after failing to find a buyer despite three years on the market.

Scotland’s most expensive estate, valued at £25 million, boasts around 2400 acres of land and the nine-bed mansion Spott House, which is expected to sell for up to £3m.

The majority of the arable land available for farming has already been sold.

Property agent Knight Frank will relaunch the sale of the remaining estate next month.

James Denne, of Knight Frank, said: “The principal site is one of the finest properties in Scotland.”
