Soldiers to be honoured

Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion The Rifles are to be granted the Freedom of Edinburgh on their return to the Capital on Monday following a six-month tour in Afghanistan.

Around 450 soldiers were deployed to Helmand Province in April.

The battalion lost Lieutenant Andrew Chesterman on August 9 while on patrol. The 26-year-old was commanding a vehicle patrol when the lead vehicle was blown up.
