Slide in Scots house prices continues
HOUSE prices continued to fall slightly in Scotland with a 1.1 per cent drop bringing the average cost of a home north of the Border to £183,000, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Across the UK prices were 2 per cent higher than last year, fuelled by a 5.7 per cent rise in London.
The relatively low price of houses in Scotland has been linked to a leap in the number of buyers, with the number of first-time buyers rising 9 per cent.
Figures from estate agents Your Move show a 21 per cent rise in the number of home sales between June and July.
