Sky staff cycle to Paris to see race finale

STAFF at Sky’s base in Livingston have completed a 288-mile cycle from London to Paris – arriving in time to watch Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky cross the Tour de France finish line at the Champs Elysées.

Sporting their own yellow cycling jerseys, Mary Kiely, Keith Johnston, Gordon McKenzie and Stuart Bailey joined 135 colleagues from across the UK, along with friends and family, including Mary’s husband Thomas, as they departed from London on Friday.

Making their way south along the English coast and crossing to Calais, the team spurred each other on as they cycled to Paris via Amiens, arriving in the city on Sunday.

The cyclists trained for six months in preparation for the challenge, with the Lothians members regularly meeting up to take part in cycling events in the build-up to the challenge.

Mary Kiely, a project analyst from Sky Livingston, said: “To reach the finish line was a truly memorable moment and to celebrate this with so many fellow Sky colleagues, as well as family and friends, who had been training for months, was very emotional.”
