Six years for rape attempt

A MAN who tried to rape a woman going home after a night out has been jailed for six years. Darius Serafinski, 26, crept up behind the student in the early hours of January 28.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how he walked beside her before forcing his way into the 20-year-old woman’s property in Tollcross.

Weeks later on March 3, Serafinski followed another woman called Tsaii Fang to another house in the city. He asked her if he could come into her flat.

When she refused, Serafinski pushed the door to the property, forced himself in and went into her bathroom.

Serafinski, a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, was found guilty by a majority verdict of attempted rape and breach of the peace charges last month.

Defence advocate Shelagh McCall yesterday told the court Serafinski had displayed symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome.
