Six charged after police drugs swoop

SIX people have been arrested and charged by police as part of an ongoing drugs crackdown.

Officers raided several houses in Musselburgh and Fa’side, East Lothian, during a week of action under Operation Ergot. A 42-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested and charged on Monday, February 4 after police recovered cannabis and heroin at an address in Northfield, Tranent. The following day, a 25-year-old woman was charged after cannabis and cultivation equipment was seized at a home in East Loan, Prestonpans.

A 33-year-old man was charged following the search of a property in Prestonpans High Street on February 7, before a 44-year-old woman was arrested the next day in Gardiners Close, Cockenzie.

An 18-year-old man stopped in Delta Road, Musselburgh, was charged on the same day after cannabis was found. All those charged are due to appear in court at a later date.
