Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis start filming Burke and Hare

CAMERAS have started to roll on a new version telling the tale of Burke and Hare.

Stars Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis were on the Royal Mile as murdering duo William Burke and William Hare to shoot scenes yesterday.

Crews will be filming in Edinburgh and Stirling until early next week. The film is a comedic take on the story of the 1828 body-snatchers, who killed to provide corpses for medical experiments.

A spokesman for Edinburgh Film Focus said: "We're confident the film will encourage a new generation of filmgoers worldwide to visit Edinburgh."
